Off to Scottsdale

It is all beginning again. I am off to Scottsdale for the first Team RadioShack training camp. This year it is a little different though because speaking figuratively, “I have ridden this bicycle a little bit before.” Also it is only the Americans this time, instead of the whole team. They decided it is not as important this year to gather the whole team, as it was last year because we have been together before and things are not as new. Nonetheless, with an American sponsor, we are taking the time to thank them for their support and get at least some of the troops together. I should not forget either to say that all the Europeans are meeting at a separate camp in Europe. The only teammates left out of the fun are those from out of Europe and the US, i.e. the New Zealanders; too long to fly for a couple days.

Although I have enjoyed my off/down time, I am excited to start things up again and feeling motivated. It was a wonderful experience for Lisa and me last year and we are hoping for better things this year. We’re excited to get back to Europe and find a nice apartment to call home in Girona again. We are also really excited to start our language program and work on our Espanol, so we can better communicate in Spain.

On other notes, I would like to issue a huge thank you to the Ziavelo Cycling Club in Las Cruces for graciously inviting Lisa and me to their end of the year/jumpstart for next year party. It was a great time and their generosity has been greatly appreciated for the past couple years.

I suppose a catch up on the Thanksgiving week is a little past due, but in brief summary, we had a wonderful time in Mesa with Lisa’s grandparents. We had a great night out at the Arizona Opry with them, an awesome overnight hike in the Superstition Wilderness, and an awesome Thanksgiving Day meal with grandma, grandpa and some of their friends.

Future plans right now include the exciting trip home to WI, MN and IA. We hope to leave on Monday after camp and be back to WI on the afternoon of the 15th to spend some time with the Busche family, who I haven’t seen, but two days during the US Pro weekend, since the wonderful day that was January 2nd, 2010. Then it is on to the Savre family who I haven’t seen at all since January and then on to Decorah for a long overdue visit and a wedding anniversary!

I would like to issue a formal invitation to the grand opening of the new Trek Bicycle Store in Oro Valley, AZ on Saturday December 11, 2010. I will be doing a shop ride around 1pm, followed by a meet & greet/Q&A at 3:30ish. Come join the fun and help get the new shop off on the right foot.

I believe that is all I have for catching up and filling in. I do have a very important announcement though. It is about time for me to change my blog title and I need some input. I have a few ideas, but am willing to take suggestions. I would like to stick with the “Joyous Chaos” theme, but I need some new descriptive word(s). Perhaps to the lucky person whose title I choose (if not my own), I will send an authentic Team RadioShack cycling cap… anyone interested? Cheers!

I have also had the pleasure of attending the Arizona Opry with my grandparents. Man, can they put on a show.

Best wishes for the coming year,

Prolonged Order of Joyous Chaos
The Pursuit of Joyous Chaos
Perseverance of Joyous Chaos
Maintaining Joyous Chaos

It's been great to read about you, I came to Luther last year and in the spring met Novian and have been riding with him ever since. Good luck to you this season!

O.K. Bear with me on this one. One never knows where life will take them and the factors that affect the outcome. Given that, I offer the following:

"Chaostication".
(Hey, make up a word if you can't find one that fits!!)
Derived from the following definition of chaos theory.

Chaos theory is a field of study in mathematics, physics, economics, and philosophy studying the behavior of dynamical systems that are highly sensitive to initial conditions. This sensitivity is popularly referred to as the butterfly effect. Small differences in initial conditions (such as those due to rounding errors in numerical computation) yield widely diverging outcomes for chaotic systems, rendering long-term prediction impossible in general.

Wow! I think Shane should get the prize regardless of whether you choose his suggestion or not.

Hey Ms. Busche, you have a terrific son (and daughter in law), you should be proud!

I should be so blessed to have my children turn out as well. Job well done.
