Stage 1 is in the books, and I think we're on track. The team rode well, and everything is good going into tomorrow's decisive Kitzbuehl Horn. It's an incredible climb that will surely define the race again this year. We'll see what happens!
As far as today's stage, we had a plan for the tricky finish, but it didn't pan out at all really. It was a technical last 3km with the last km being a solid climb. We wanted to line up on the flat into the last 3km and then attack the climb full gas. Of course everyone has similar ideas, too! Anyway, in the end, Jakob was 8th, I was top 15 I think, and Thomas stayed out of trouble. It was a smaller group, but it was still a little chaotic with the tight, technical finish. I am really happy with how I fought for position and was able to keep in it. I surprisingly think my condition is pretty good, too, so we'll have to see how the rest pans out. I'll fight for what I can and definitely take these gains onward. Auf wiedersehen!
